Love in Hollywood has often been found to be as tough as acting. While some turn out to be lucky enough to find their soulmates through onscreen chemistry that continues offscreen to result in a lifetime bond, others simply seem to hit it off in the beginning but fail to keep the spark alive.

Of course, a lot of onscreen chemistries have even led to marriages in Hollywood, with some of them lasting for decades while others couldn’t even make it up to a few years. Meanwhile, there is one other category of celebs as well: Those who just seem to find love again and again, considering just how many times and people they have decided to tie the knot with.

While not many names come under this last category, there are still some significant additions. From big names like Nicolas Cage, Pamela Anderson, Rita Hayworth, and even Martin Scorsese, here are ten celebrities from Hollywood’s entertainment industry who have been married five times or more to date.

Celebrities Who Have Been in More Than 5 Marriages

1Nicolas Cage

A stunning A-lister who has often been criticized over some ofhis disturbing life choices, Cage seems to have enjoyed giving love as many chances as it wanted. An actor cum film producer, he has been married 5 times throughout the 60 years of his existence, with his current wife being the 28-year-old Japanese actressRiko Shibata.

Cage’s first wife was actressPatricia Arquette(56), and the pair remained happily together from 1995 to 2001. This was followed by him tying the knot with the late singerLisa Marie Presleyin 2002, but this union couldn’t last for more than a few months. Two years later, he got married to actress Alice Kim in 2004, with whom he shares a son named Kal-El (pretty ironic, considering how he played a variant of Superman inThe Flash).

His third marriage was, by far, his most successful one asNicolas Cagestayed in it for 12 years before parting ways in 2016. By 2019, theLonglegsactor had once again found love, this time with make-up artist Erika Koike. But this marriage turned out to be the shortest as he reportedly requested divorce a mere 4 days after their Las Vegas elopement, which was followed by their marriage being annulled two months later.

2Martin Scorsese

Hollywood veteranMartin Scorsesemay have delivered quite a lot of hits throughout his star-studded career as one of the major figures of the New Hollywood era as a filmmaker, but he has been equally energetic in his love life as well. Married 5 times, he went back and forth between different women until coming across his soulmate and his current wife, Helen Morris.

Scorsese first married back in 1965 with his university sweetheart Laraine Marie Brennan but split up within seven years by 1972. His next wife would be teacher cum author Julia Cameron (76), married in 1975 and divorced by ’77. After two years, he once again found love with Italian-American actress and model Isabella Rossellini (72) in 1979, though even this union couldn’t last longer than 3 years, ending in 1982.

Then in 1985, theKillers of the Flower Moondirector decided to tie the knot with film producer Barbara De Fina (74) and ended up splitting from her by 1991. The 81-year-old director then seemingly took a break from marriage until 1999, when he came across TV producer Helen Morris, whom he shares a daughter named Francesca and continues to lead a happy married life with.

3James Cameron

Another mastermind famous for gifting the world of cinema with masterpieces like theAvataruniverse,Titanic, and theTerminatorfilm series,James Cameronhas been married 5 times himself.

His first wife was Sharon Williams, with whom he tied the knot in 1978 but decided to cut it off within six years by 1984. A year later, he decided to once again give marriage a shot with film producer Gale Anne Hurd (68), though this marriage was also kept short as the pair parted ways by 1989. During that same year, Oscar-winning directorKathryn Bigelow(72) came into his life but left it equally soon in two years by 1991.

Six years later, Cameron once again decided to explore married life, though this time with actressLinda Hamilton(68). Unfortunately enough, things didn’t work out, and the pair separated in 1999. But this turned out to be fortunate as well as Cameron tied the knot with former actress, model, author, and activist Suzy Amis in 2000, and has been going strong in his married life ever since.

4Rita Hayworth

One of the most stunning actresses cum dancers cum pin-up models of her time,Rita Hayworthmay have died single in 1987 but had multiple romantic encounters with men throughout her lifetime. To say the least, she had been married 5 times before presumably giving up on the idea altogether by 1961, around fifteen years before her death.

Hayworth’s first husband was promoter Edward C. Judson, whom she married in 1937 before their divorce in 1942. Next year, she got hitched to directorOrson Wellesbut left him by 1947 as well. The next in her long list of ex-lovers was socialite Prince Aly Khan, whom she married in 1949 but divorced within 4 years by 1953.

Shortly after her third divorce, she tied the knot with actor Dick Haymes, though their relationship was reportedly abusive. After spending a tumultuous 2 years together, Haymes reportedly even struck Hayworth in the face in 1955 in public, which followed with their divorce. Her last marriage was to producer James Hill, though even that couldn’t last for more than 3 years as Hayworth filed for a divorce by 1961.

5Mickey Rooney

When it comes to the most number of marriages, the late actor Mickey Rooney seems to have outclassed all the other names previously mentioned on this list. This is because, throughout his 93 years of existence, theNight at the Museumalum tied the knot a whopping 8 times. But he seemingly never regretted any of his marriages, as his response toPeople‘s question of if he’d marry all these women again was,“Absolutely. I loved every one of them.”

His first marriage took place in 1942 and lasted only a year long with actressAva Gardner. Then in 1944, Rooney wed singer cum songwriter Betty Jane Baker, with whom he had two children before their divorce in 1949. Model cum actress Martha Vickers came next on this list as they tied the knot in 1949, stayed together for around two years, and then parted ways in 1951.

“And he married her, what a legend”: Married to Jennifer Connelly, Paul Bettany Was Embarrassed to Confess His First Celebrity Crush But Wait Till You Learn His Answer

This list was carried forward by actress Elaine Mahnken (aka Elaine Devry), whom he married in 1952 and divorced in 1958. The same year, he wed Barbara Ann Thomason (aka Carolyn Mitchell), though she was tragically murdered by a stuntman and her lover, whom she was having an affair with, in 1966. Marge Lane carried this list forward by marrying Rooney the same year, though they parted ways after a mere 100 days.

Two years later, in 1969, Carolyn Hockett said‘I do’to become his wife and stayed so till 1975. But Rooney’s next marriage was the longest: He tied the knot with actress Jan Chamberlin (85) and stayed with her till his death in April 2014, though the pair separated in 2012 due to Rooney alleging elder abuse by his wife’s son, Christopher Aber.

6Larry King

While Mickey Rooney may have tried to set a record, the late author, radio host, and TV hostLarry Kingseems to have perfectly rivaled him. This is because his own married record stands at 8, though he only married 7 women.

This affair started back in 1952, when King tied the knot with his high school sweetheart Freda Miller in their late teens, though their marriage was allegedly annulled by their disapproving parents. Then in 1961, King married Annette Kaye, but the union lasted for even less than a year. That same year, he found love again with Alene Akins, though the pair parted ways by 1963.

1964 saw him marrying Mickey Sutphin, but even she left him two years later in 1967. A year later, King once again circled back to his ex-wife Akins and wed her once again in 1968 before splitting yet again in 1971. Five years later in 1976, the late actor married Sharon Lepore and stayed married for seven years before divorcing her in 1983.

Six years later, he found love again with Julie Alexander, but they were soon separated in 1990 before divorcing each other in 1992. King’s most successful marriage, perhaps, was his last one, which happened back in 1997 with Shawn Southwick and stayed till 2019, when he filed for a divorce, though these divorce proceedings were still underway when he passed away in January 2021.

7Elizabeth Taylor

As much as she was loved for her outstanding performances and stunning beauty,Elizabeth Taylorwas also famous for the stunning number of times she tied the knot throughout her lifetime. And the figure is actually the same as Rooney and King’s; though similar to King, she was married to seven men but had eight weddings, and still passed away a single lady in 2011 aged 79.

At 18, she married hotel heir Conrad Hilton Jr. in 1950, but stayed together for only 8 months. 1952 saw her wedding to actor Michael Wilding before the pair announced their separation in 1956 and divorce a year later. A month after her divorce, Taylor tied the knot with theater producer Mike Todd, who tragically lost his life in a plane crash in 1958.

What We Know About Saoirse Ronan and Her Husband Jack Lowden’s Secret Married Life

Next came her scandalous affair with singerEddie Fisher, who was married to her friendDebbie Reynoldsat the time, which was followed by Fisher and Taylor’s wedding and staying together for around half a decade. In 1964, she parted ways with Fisher and tied the knot with actorRichard Burton10 days later in a marriage that lasted for 10 years, till 1974.

But there’s a twist here. Taylor remarried Burton in 1975, but once again split ways with him in 1976. Former U.S. Senator John Warner came next, who married the actress the same year before divorcing her in 1982. Nearly a decade later in 1991, Taylor got hitched to her eighth and final husband, Larry Fortensky, for a marriage that lasted around five years until their divorce in 1996.

8Lana Turner

Further putting up competition on this list isLana Turner, who was, also, married eight times. After eloping with composer Artie Shaw in 1939 in a relationship that lasted for four months, she tied the knot with actor Joseph Stephen Crane in 1942 before having their marriage annulled in 1943 after discovering he wasn’t quite divorced from his wife Carol Ann Kurtz.

This twisted story didn’t last here, however, as, after finding out she was pregnant with their daughter, Turner remarried Crane before divorcing him in 1944. In 1948, the actress wed socialite Henry J. Topping Jr., and a year after her divorce from him in 1952, she got hitched to actor Lex Barker for around four years, till their divorce in 1957.

Her other marriages and divorces included businessman Fred May – wed in 1960, divorced in 1962; former CEO of Chrysler Corporation Robert Eaton – wed three years later and divorced by 1969; and finally, hypnotist Ronald Dante – wed in 1969 before parting ways in 1972. After that, Turner was seemingly done with matrimony as she stayed a bachelor until her death in 1995.

9Richard Pryor

Though his number of marriages is lesser than Mickey Rooney and Larry King,Richard Pryorwas still a player in the betrothal game. Making it to the altar one too many times throughout his 65-year-long lifetime, the late actor married and remarried five women in seven weddings.

It all started in 1961 with Patricia Price, whom he ended up leaving after a year. Around five years later, he found love with Shelley Bonis but wound up divorcing her as well by 1969. Nearly a decade later, he gave marriage a chance once again with actress Deborah McGuire in 1977, though the couple split up the following year.

Four years later, he tied the knot withJennifer Leefrom 1981 to 1982 before going on to wed actress Flynn Belaine in 1986 for a year-long marriage that had him taking another go at it from 1990 to 1991. His last wife was his ex Lee, whom he circled back to in 2001 and stayed together with until his tragic passing away in 2005.

10Pamela Anderson

Last but hardly the least on this list is actress cum modelPamela Anderson, though the number of times she has been married would differ from five to six, based on whether we’re counting legally or otherwise. (No pun intended.Literally.)

Anderson’s whirlwind affair with weddings started back in 1995 when she decided to marryMötley Crüedrummer Tommy Lee a mere 96 hours after knowing him. This resulted in a nearly three-year-long marriage with two kids before Anderson moved on with musician Kid Rock in July 2006 and ended up breaking up with him by 2007.

That same year, she once again tied the knot with professional poker player Rick Salomon, but their first marriage didn’t last long as the pair had it annulled less than half a year later. Nearly six years later, this pair once again found their way back to each other as they remarried in 2014, though this, too, ended up in a divorce within a few months.

The January of 2020 reported Anderson being secretly wed to movie producer John Peters, but the pair announced their split a mere two weeks later to even confirm that they were never legally married, as perPeople. (Now get the‘legal or otherwise’part?) On Christmas Eve of that year, she got hitched to her bodyguard Dan Hayhurst, though this marriage didn’t last longer than a year either, with the pair splitting in 2022.

Currently, Anderson is living a bachelor’s life with her two children. But that hasn’t eliminated her chances of being married again, as her honest response to the question of being married again onJimmy Kimmel Live!was:“God, what a crazy question. I don’t know, I hope so. I still have a lot of life to live.”Well, guess we’ll be seeing another wedding coming from Pamela Anderson!
