Even beforeMadame Webofficially hit the big screens, many wrote it off based on the trailer and Sony’s track record with their live-action cinematic universe, which is yet to take off. Unfortunately for the Dakota Johnson-led movie, it failed to improve upon its trailer, with some deeming it the worst of Sony sinceMorbius.

But despite the overwhelming criticism against the movie, which doesn’t do much to advance Sony’s cinematic universe, the movie has its moments, as fans on X rave over one particular scene.

It’s Not All Misses for Dakota Johnson’sMadame Web

WhileMadame Webseems like a movie that was only made to fill the release date set by Sony, which fails to do many things right, one particular scene succeeded in getting a chuckle out of fans. Although fans were left disappointed after it was revealed thatMadame Webwould have no ties to Spider-Man, the movie did reference one iconic scene from the Raimi trilogy. Like Peter, after Cassandra Webb starts discovering her powers, she tries to climb the walls like Parker did inSpider-Man 1, but unlike the Web-head, she gradually falls down.

And unlike most scenes, their attempt at humor in this scene clicked with the fans, as it did get a chuckle out of fans.

Spider-Man (2002)

This was the only part in the film that got any significant response at all from the audience in my screening

If that is the funniest scene, this movie is going to downward spiral into oblivion

Unfortunately, it can’t be said for most of the movie, as it currently stands at 14% on rotten tomatoes, which isn’t very surprising, considering the lead of the movie seemingly had little faith in it.

Dakota Johnson Has No Plans of WatchingMadame WebAnytime Soon

ThroughoutMadame Web‘s marketing,Dakota Johnsonwas brutally honest about her experience in her first Marvel flick, revealing that she was unsure if the movie was even good or not. And while fans saw the answer for themselves on-screen on Friday, Dakota Johnson is still yet to watch the movie but has no intentions of watching it anytime soon. Johnson confessed her decision to not watchMadame Webisn’t exclusive to this movie alone, as the actor often doesn’t watch her own works to avoid an existential crisis. She told Magic FM (viaX),

“I haven’t actually seen the movie [Laughs],”Johnson said.“I probably won’t…I don’t know when I’ll see it. Someday… Not watching my movies is, like, self care.”

Despite some moments,Madame Webdoesn’t hold enough substance to keep the fans returning to the theatre, which is evident following the movie’s less-than-stellar reception. And it’ll be interesting to see if Sony will finally change its approach to a coherent live-action universe, as, unlike their animated acclaimed gems, it has been mostly mishaps in their live-action department.

Madame Webis currently running in theatres.
